Service to families, schools and parish and wider communities was the theme of Catholic Schools Week 2024. As our act of service, we arranged a collection for the Castlerea Branch of St. Vincent De Paul. Our pupils and their families generously donated dried foods, household supplies and toiletries, that SVP will share with those in need in the community. Sheridan, a volunteer for the local branch came in to tell us how our donations would be used and how the organisation helps families in need. Sincere thanks to everyone for their generosity.

We celebrated Catholic Schools Week 2023 between January 22nd and 27th. We prepared for and held a prayer service on Friday 27th. We made lovely cards, drew portraits and displayed our photo galleries of our wonderful grandparents. We had a lovely afternoon and were glad so many grandparents and parents could join us.

Christmas Kindness Day on Friday 16th was a lovely day to focus on doing something for others as part of our Christmas preparations. The pupils designed and wrote special cards which were sent by post and delivered to our nominated recipients, hopefully bringing a smile to their faces. We also had some fun playing board games together. The children made suggestions for a charitable donation from our Christmas Jumper wearing, and after a vote the pupils selected Focus Ireland. A donation of €105 has been sent to Focus Ireland's Sligo branch on behalf of the Castleplunkett NS Pupils.
The children in the Senior Room have received letters from a primary school in Co. Carlow. We were extremely excited when we received our letters from our new Pen-Pals. We have written out our replies and are hoping to get another letter in response. We are hoping to send Christmas cards to our Pen-Pals also.
